Batumi Strengthens Its Position as an International Sports Destination
The city of Batumi is preparing to host several major international sports events in 2026, further strengthening its reputation as one of the region’s fastest-growing destinations for sports tourism and international competitions ๐๐๏ธ
One of the most important events is the European Weightlifting Championships 2026, which took place from April 19–26 at the Batumi Sports Palace. Athletes from approximately 45 countries have participated in the championship, bringing together some of the strongest competitors in Europe and beyond.
This was to be another important milestone for Batumi, a city that has already successfully hosted international tournaments in previous years. The championship also attracted thousands of visitors, sports fans, media representatives, and international delegations to the Black Sea coast.
At the same time, Batumi continues expanding its presence in other international sports disciplines. In June 2026, the city will host one of the stages of the Beach Wrestling World Series for the first time. The event will combine high-level competition with Batumi’s unique seaside atmosphere and showcase Georgia’s long-standing wrestling tradition.
These events highlight Batumi’s growing importance not only as a tourist destination, but also as a modern international hub for sports, entertainment, and large-scale events.
With modern infrastructure, new investment projects, and increasing global attention, Batumi continues to move confidently toward becoming one of the leading sports and tourism centers in the region โจ
